The reason the likes of Gold and Bitcoin exist is because people require a means to store and trade value.

Purchasers of these assets are aiming to store value first and grow that value second.

Fiat is the first choice; however a few people recognize that over time fiat does not hold its value. (In fact, it’s not meant too.)

Throughout history Gold has been the goto store of value as markets, currencies and countries have risen and fallen.

It’s not meant to be an investment like stocks so comparing them doesn’t make sense.

The right questions for gold is whether or not it has maintained its purchasing power over the years compared to fiat. That’s its main purpose.

Exactly. Gold shouldn't be treated as an investment like stocks. I want it to hold its value, not necessarily skyrocket in price. Just like I personally buy real estate for the cash flow, not anticipated appreciation. I don't want my financial security and fortune dependent upon bubbles.
